ETCHE AMERICA FOUNDATION

The Etche America Foundation (EAF) National was established in 1995 with the inaugural convention of Etche sons and daughters in the USA and Canada, in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, specifically in College Park, Maryland. The primary objective of the convention focused on employing a pragmatic approach to address the progressive degradation and decline of essential aspects of Etche culture and heritage. Prior to the inaugural national convention, Etche indigenes in Houston, Dallas, and Washington/ Baltimore metropolitan areas were each nursing Etche ethnic organization in their respective regional jurisdictions. Subsequently, on November 25, 1995, the foundation was formally born with attendees from Houston and Dallas, Texas, Boston, Massachusetts, and of course the residents in the Washington, DC, and Baltimore metro area. The organization was later incorporated in the state of Delaware under the provisions of the General Corporation Law of Delaware. This foundation is a non-profit, non-political organization, exclusively dedicated to serving the Etche community, comprising sons, daughters, and descendants of Etche origin, as well as individuals who have developed strong connections with Etche culture and traditions while residing in the United States of America. The foundation has been granted tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The governance of the Etche America Foundation is vested in a seven-member executive body. The president serves as the chief executive officer and official spokesperson of the foundation. Membership to the Etche America Foundation is open to all indigenous Etche people and credible individuals and families from the public who share a common interest in promoting and preserving Etche heritage and values. However, the foundation places considerable emphasis on character and ideology in the membership consideration process. Potential members are evaluated based on their alignment with the foundation's mission and dedication to preserving and promoting Etche culture, traditions, and values in a positive and constructive manner. Since the inception of EAF, the organization has maintained charity outreach to the less privileged community members in the native Etcheland through educational support at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels in the form of supply of educational materials and award of scholarships to university-bound youths (boys and girls).

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote unity and understanding among Etche families and well-wishers in the United States of America, Nigeria, and around the globe through shared common interests. The Foundation is committed to enhancing the economic, social, and physical (health) wellbeing of the people of Etche, through sustainable community-based development programs. By continuing to preserve our cultural heritage and social identity, we are uniquely aligned with the people of Etche in Nigeria, and the degenerations of basic life essentials in Etcheland. And by acting with integrity and humanity, we earn their trust and respect. By maintaining our non-profit, non-political, and humanitarian status, every action we take has one overriding purpose: to enhance the basic life necessities through the economic, social, and physical (health) wellbeing of the people, while preserving the cultural heritage and social identity of the community.
